Many people think of Halloween as a children’s holiday. However, make no mistake about it, there are plenty of adults who enjoy dressing up and getting into the holiday spirit. 1. Often, drivers wear their costumes to bars and parties and, of course, home again. Masks get in the way of vision. Accessories can impede the driver’s ability to hold the wheel properly.
2. If there’s a car full of people who have been partying — or who are on their way to mix and mingle — you can rest assured they are talking and laughing about the night ahead or behind them. They aren’t vigilantly watching the road.
3. There stands a good chance that even a small amount of drinking can turn into a problem for drivers who have been around plenty of candy but no real food. That means one beer can be dangerous.

Bikers have to be prepared to be extra aware of the other cars sharing the roadway this holiday season. Do yourself a favor and use reflective tape on your jacket at night so you can be seen by distracted drivers a bit easier. And, don’t forget to watch where you are going too! Children dart in and out of the roadway while trick-or-treating. They can be as hard to see as you are to car drivers.
